It is with sadness that members were informed of the passing on Monday 29th January of one of the founder members of Spenborough & District A.C. Mr. George Fensom at the age of 96 years. George was a committee member, organiser, field judge, equipment sorter, maintenance adviser, and many other things up until the age of 80 years plus, when he retired, but still popped in now and then. He was also instrumental, whilst a member of the old Spenborough District Council, of voting to have money spent on a tartan track at the now Princess Mary Sports stadium, before the closure of that council and the transfer of its assets to the now Kirklees Council. Our thoughts are with his wife Jenny also a founder member, and her family.
