Sunday 24th October saw some hardy Spen juniors travel to Kettlewell, North Yorkshire to take on the steep climbs and slopes of Great Whernside, competing to be the next Yorkshire champion. The Great Whernside fell race - organised by Wharfedale Harriers - was part of the Fell Runner's Assocation's junior champs, with age categories from under 9s right up to seniors.
In the under 9s was Betty Atkinson who finished in a formidable 6 minutes 19 seconds, with the boys under 11s seeing Henry Adams, Edward Atkinson and Henry Atkinson taking on the tough 1k boys race with impressive times. Imogen Atkinson was Spen's medalist of the day gaining a bronze Yorkshire medal for the under 13 girls!
Well done to all for impressive performances at a tough hill race.
