It is with deep regret that we have to cancel tomorrow’s Spen 20 race. After assessing the course and working with the local council and their safety group we have made the decision to cancel the event as the course is not safe for runners to get around safely.

We understand there maybe frustration at the decision but we he have tried to allow as much time as we can before cancelling the event to try and get the event to go ahead. The move is difficult and frustrating to us as a club as well, due to the hours of work put in by our event team and volunteers but we have to make sure our events are held safely which we cannot do in these weather conditions especially with more snow and bad conditions in the forecast in the region.

The cancellation will see the race return in 2024 as we do not have another viable date for us as a club to run with other club events approaching and the time needed to get the event set up. We look forward to welcoming runners back in 2024 and hope for better conditions next year.

We are working with BookitZone to refund entries which should be with entrants in the next couple of days.
