BOOKINGS NOW CLOSED - REACHED CAPACITY

Spenborough & District Athletic Club are running a three-day summer camp for children aged 7-13 (at the time of the event). This is to be held on Wednesday 14th to Friday 16th August 2024 at the Princess Mary Stadium, Cleckheaton at 10am to 3pm each day.

This event provides an ideal introduction to all aspects of athletics for both newcomers to the sport, and those who are already attached to an athletic club.

The children will have a chance to participate in various athletics activities including sprinting, middle distance, discus, high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin, hurdles and more. They will also have the chance to show what they have learnt as they compete against each other in ‘Mini Olympics’ (fun athletics competitions) on the last day of the event. Parents and carers are welcome to come along and watch on Friday afternoon.

England Athletics qualified coaches are on hand, all of whom have the necessary DBS status to ensure that there will be a safe environment at all times.

There is no minimum fitness requirement to take part, all we ask is that the children try their best and give every activity a go.

How do I book?

To book a place for your child you will need to register via the ‘Join’ button at the top of the website and ask to become a Parent of a player in the Summer Camp team, giving the name of your child. This is so we can capture important information such as emergency contact details.

If you registered last year, or your child is a current club member, just login to the website and ask for them to become a player in the Summer Camp team, which is in the Your Roles section of Your Account.

Once you are registered you can then head over to the ‘Shop’ section of the website and find the ‘Summer Camp August 2024’, then just select the appropriate days and make your payment.

What does my child need to bring?

This event will take place outside, rain or shine so please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the day.

Suitable trainers, shorts or joggers/leggings and a t-shirt should be fine. If the weather is sunny please ensure your child is wearing sun cream (and brings some with them if they need to apply any more throughout the day), you may want them to wear a sun hat too.
If the weather doesn’t look great then some form of jacket/coat may be best (zip up front is preferable so they can easily take this on and off if they start to get warm).
Your child will need to bring a packed lunch and please make sure they have plenty of water to drink throughout the day.

Who do I contact if I have a question?

Please email Lee Myers (Youth Coach and Assistant Team Manager) via our contact page.
